The next year will see a
flourishing diary of activities, giving our school age members and young adults the opportunities to
meet friends amongst the group, and get out and about having fun together.
The club organises activities, some of which are age related, and others are open to everyone.
A whole range of experiences are on offer such as Sports, Social, Arts and Crafts, Cultural and other
fun things. Most activities are funded by LDSG.
Flyers are sent out to club members who are of a suitable age for an event giving details of what
activity is available; parents and carers will know what activities are suitable for their own children,
and it is essential that all members should be accompanied by a parent or carer to the events,
although the parent or carer does not participate in the activity.
We want Friendship n’ Fun Members to feel a part of something exciting and challenging, and when
they join the club they will receive a Membership Pack which gives more information about the club.
We welcome ideas as to what kind of activities our members would like to try, which we can then
look into.
As our younger children start their school life they will have the chance to join the
Friendship n’ Fun Group, and socialise with other members with DS of a similar age, hopefully
forming lasting friendships.
We’re out and about having fun!
This is what the Friendship n’ Fun Club has been up to recently ...
Karts 4 Kids
The group had a wonderful time with Karts 4 Kids, at a Leisure Centre. Members of the 5 - 11
group raced electric go-karts under the expert tuition of Dave, and received trophies and medals to
celebrate their success.
After such lively racing they got together for tea in the party room, and still had energy for dancing.
Everyone enjoyed themselves, and can’t wait to get together again.
Meanwhile at Hollywood Bowl
The older groups showed off their ten pin bowling skills at the Hollywood Bowl.
The 11 - 16 group decided bowling was more fun with friends, and they were well on the way after
a quiet start. There were lots of cheers and ‘high fi ves’ fl ying around, and the parents wisely stayed
out of the way to let the kids enjoy being together.
A few weeks earlier the 16 plus group seemed to have had just as much fun, if a bit more grownup,
and enjoyed eating at Pizza Hut as much as the younger ones - Bowling, Pizza and Ice Cream,
what more could you ask for?
We’ve also been Swimming, had trips out to the Cinema, danced the afternoon away at a Dance
Studio, and shared Fish n’ Chip Suppers. Why don’t you join us?
